Second bloom

I stumbled across this little gem the other day and I think it's a great idea. Second Bloom will come pick up your flowers and give them to people in nursing homes, rehab centers and hospice. Its an easy way to give back.

Real Gangsta Wedding: Molly and David

This wedding feels so magical to me. Enjoy!

They hired a band to play traditional Jewish music.

They decided to put fabric up in the trees with words that were important to them on their wedding. Such a great idea!

The bride made her bouquet using fabric pieces and copper wiring to give it shape.

I love how the guests sat on pillows, blankets and chairs. I mean, who really needs chair rental when you have grass, right?

Looks like an amazing, meaningful wedding.

I love you- the slow way

Message Bean comes in a pot of soil and grows into a message and picture! It's the perfect little thank-you gift for all those people who helped you out with your wedding.

You can also say "thank you", "happy birthday", or "good luck".

So is this what's in style now?

I can't keep up with all these ridiculous "sunglasses" trends. I don't really get these things, and I'm not really sure how they work, but they are apparently oddly gangsta. Looks like she's about to get her eye stabbed.

Can anyone explain to me how these things work?

Best (2 pieces) of Wedding Advice

Alright, so this is probably the best wedding advice I've ever heard (read). Miss Foolery asked a couple of her husband's friends from college how they've managed to stay so freakin' happy and fun in their marriage and they wrote don these two pieces of advice:

1. Listen to Al Green's Love and Happiness.

(especially after fights)

and

2. Never... I mean ALWAYS...

FIGHT NAKED

(Guess Mr. Green's music isn't the only thing that was sexy, if ya know what I'm sayin)

Monday Night Jamz

She has some great dance tunes, but I decided to go with this song for it's wedding appropriateness. It will melt your insides.

Giambattista Valli Look Alike

I fell in love with this dress when I saw it on Brooklyn Bride, but of course it was waaayyy too expensive. Then I saw this one, that was very similar and waaayyy cheaper.

Smoking

Too many things to do this week. Please forgive me for my lack of posting. I need a long cigarette break (even though I don't smoke cigarettes).

Wedding paper dolls

This brings me back! My sister and I used to stay up late playing with paper dolls and redressing them. These would be great shower gifts or maybe even table markers or even place cards.

Mini!

Alright. I'm lazy. I want this really bad. It would take like 2 seconds to hand wash all the dishes in this little thing BUT camping in PR really made me appreciate all the little kitchen gizmos I have at home. I think this little baby could have fit in my backpack! It is so adorable.

AND it saves water because it works using steam.

AND it has many uses- as clearly demonstrated by the lovely, hilarious, and undoubtedly
sexy droll girl.

Wanted URGENTLY: Best Man for wedding in Holyoke, MA (Sun 11th)

Date: 2006-06-09, 5:13AM EDT

Wedding Date: Sun 11th June 2006

Ok, so I'm backing out on my cousin last minute, and I before I do it, I need someone lined up to take my place, because I'm not sure that he'll be able to find someone at such short notice.

Pay is $200+ (negotiable), plus a night in the hotel in question (I'll sacrafice my room there for the right candidate).

You MUST have comprehensive experience in this position, have a TUX (because the one I have might not fit you), and have transport to and from the locations (to be divulged to selected candidate, but it's in Holyoke).

Email me with a few pictures (preferably in a tux at a wedding, in the Best Man role) and brief history of experience in this position, and a telephone number where I can contact you.

This will be a one time contract job. You will be required to be available during the entire day, from 9am until 12am (perhaps even until 2am). You will be required to make a speech and fulfill other customary duties normally executed by the best man at weddings. If you happen to find a beautiful woman to dance the night away with, that's fine, so long as the aforementioned duties are fulfilled in their entirety and in a satisfactory manner.

Due to the sensitivity of this position, and the short time available, please only apply if you are sincere, clinically sane & stable and experienced.

Monday Night Jamz (Puerto Rican style)

My trip can be summarized by one word: salsa. In honor of my Puerto Rican extravaganza, this week's jam is from a classic Puerto Rican salsa group called El Gran Combo. Just try and not dance. Just try.

Puerto Rico

Today, I am going to Puerto Rico for a week. I found an amazing last minute deal on Spirit Air for roundtrip tickets for $170 with taxes and everything! I a usually such a planner, but I have planned nothing for this trip. We have tickets to San Juan, and that is all. I don't even know where were gonna sleep tonight. Wish me luck!

(I'm not sure if I'll have computer access, so I will not be posting this week, BUT I will totally make it up to you with a montage of photos and stories)

Payless Shoes

Anyone who knows me knows I like a good deal. I never pay retail and most of my closet has come from a careful mix of Goodwill and H&M. But have you seen Payless shoes? They are really adorable lately and soooo cheap. Like $20 cheap. So why not?

How to decorate long tables (Gangsta-ly)

For lovely number, just take some jewelry wire and and mangle and twist it up (the more unorganized the better! Then, use bright colored delicate flowers to contrast with the wire. You can use real flowers or paper ones using little pieces of the wire. You can put in in a glass as in the picture, or just place it along the table. I love the way it drapes!

This wire centerpiece is a bit more tamed. First get some coiling wire from a hardware store. Then wrap it around a bucket to get a uniform coil pattern, finally, you can stretch it out on the table and secure it with ties on either end. Then, just put bright flowers with long stems between the coils.

I love the look of these birds nest inspired centerpieces. To make these, you can use big soup cans. Then, wrap them with moss and garden wire. Then, put twigs in between the wire. Then, fill the soup can with flowers with large blooms.

This centerpiece is probably the easiest and the most cost effective! Use monochromatic carnations against solid colored square vases scattered along the table.

The key to decorating long tables is to keep it interesting along the table by incorporating new designs throughout.
